A circa mid / late 19th century Royal House of Hanover dismantled Livery Tail Coatee. Thought to be 1820s era. Complete with Sotheby's sale tag from the Hanover sale 2005 ( From October 5-15, Sotheby's will hold an unprecedented auction of heirlooms belonging to the Royal House of Hanover. This spectacular event will be conducted in situ at the Schloss Marienburg near Hanover. More than 20,000 items divided into some 4,000 lots are on offer, each with an incomparable royal provenance. ) The tail coat has had most of the golden lace decoration removed. The main scarlet body is made from a boxcloth type fabric. Blue silk velvet collar. Large gilt livery buttons approx 1 1/2 dia. Approx 3 to each cuff, each front pocket, 3 to front and four to rear. (15) Difficult to deciper the makers mark:- eichwedecber gbernstorff or eichwernstorff? Dark fabric inner lining which shows little wear. Unstitched in places to the rear. Please study the photographs. In overall fair/poor condition for the age and service wear.
